Junior Players for 2018/19
The Bulleen Cricket Club has an extensive junior division and will field teams in the following age groups U10, U12, U14, U16 & U18 plus a girls’ team. Players aged from 5 up to 18 can take part in many of our structured cricket competitions. Our Milo in2cricket program is a great introduction for younger cricketers (5yo to 8yo) and it is the perfect way to learn the skills of the game in a non-competitive environment.
Playing in the ECA (Eastern Cricket Association), Bulleen junior teams have had much success over the years; however, it is the way the game is played, and not the success of the teams, that the Bulleen Cricket Club prides itself on. The Bulleen Cricket Club values sportsmanship and leadership, and we endeavour to ensure that our young players are taught not only how to play great cricket but how to play as a team and have fun.
The girls’ team runs for 14 Wednesday nights from 5pm-7pm at Hislop Park (North Balwyn) and Chelsworth Park (Ivanhoe). There are two seasons for girls cricket one running prior to Christmas and one running post Christmas. Girls are able to sign up for either or both based on their wants and availablity.
The under 10's and 12's play their matches on Saturday mornings throughout the summer. The under 14's, 16's and 18's play their matches on Friday evenings. Training times for all teams are held throughout the week after school hours and is held at Koonung Park, Allen St, Bulleen.
Our junior coaches are members of the Bulleen community, mostly members of the senior playing group or parents. All coaches have had a number of years’ experience and either start out under the wing of a more experienced coach or have attained a Level 1 Cricket Victoria accreditation.
This season we have strengthened the junior program by appointing a Junior Development coach who will be structuring all junior training and assisting the coaches for every team.
The Junior Committee oversees all activities related to playing and administration and is always looking for new parents/helpers to join. The time commitment is not too demanding and it if you think you could help please contact me.
As a family club, we encourage all family members and friends to attend the games. It is quite a common scene at a Bulleen match to have 15-20 spectators supporting the team. A range of junior functions are held throughout the year at the Koonung Park clubhouse to which all parents, families and friends are welcome.
If you would like your child to play with the Bulleen Cricket Club, or would like any further information regarding our teams or programs, please don't hesitate to contact our Junior Chairperson Paul Cabai on 0419 524 558 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
